how do you say “doug fir” in french…?

When in france, we found a few shops that sold eaux de vie. frankly, i prefer the fine products made by our very own clear creek distillery. clear creek doesn’t make a walnut eaux de vie like we tasted (strange), but that’s perfectly fine, since they do make a tasty doug fir eaux de vie. i tried explaining in my practically non-existent french to a practically non-english speaking proprietor what a “doug fir” is, but as they say…. it did not translate.
